the image is a panorama-manip based on several more of the photos i shot at Castlewood Canyon, Colorado, in June 2010.

the text is the main segment of a response i wrote to a question i was asked by a friend, on September 30, 2010.

i completed this visual poem on October 4, 2010.

[...but it sits up high on a mountain, where on some days you can be inside clouds, and each night almost able to touch the moon, and see the starriest sky in the world. on one side are even taller, snow-capped peaks; on the other a valley deep enough to force me to defy vertigo, for its beauty is so lush, and, with a nice telescope, ever-new, marvelous curiosities are to be viewed. five gentle rivers run through it, emanating from a pristine, deep-water lake near its center. the lake holds a labyrinth of caves and caverns, in which i would dive ever further each day, and safely solve the way back. in this field there's a vast array of flora which is always in bloom, and fauna that is immune to extinction ...]
